Frank Gonzales (Website link) - https://frankgonzales.net/home.htm Frank Gonzales is an artist from Mesa, Arizona who focuses on creating ornithological themed paintings. He graduated from the Laguna College of Art and Design with a BFA degree in 2003, and has continued to create art for private and public collections since then. His work is seen publicly in hotels, hospitals, magazines, online websites, and multiple other places such as Starbucks. A canvas, acrylic paint and a brush are typically all Gonzales needs to create his paintings. He combines and uses reference photos from books and the internet to help guide him, and his final painting is a mix of realism and artificiality. He also uses bright colors to create a glitch effect on his paintings. Inspiration/What it draws me in There are many aspects to Frank Gonzales' work that I find very interesting. The realistic and detailed plants and birds with an integrated artificial look from the glitch effect makes his art more unique, which inspires me to have something unique of my own in my art that will make mine stand out, similar to how his does. Having vibrant colors and mixtures of colors that are used in the foreground against a more plain, solid colored background make his work look nicer as well in my opinion. I will try to use colors as effectively as he does in my art. Another thing I like is that he focuses on birds for his paintings, as birds are one of my favorite animals. You can tell Gonzales goes back and adds a lot of detail into his art,and after seeing how well doing this turned out for him, I want to make sure to do the same in mine.
